Something more about us...
My name is Andrea Niccolai, class 1969. I still remember the sound of the music that ran in the jukeboxes and the sound of the ball went crazy in the lighted flippers. I started as an apprentice, forming myself on mechanical and electrical components and over time I developed a deep passion, inspired by the philosophy of adjusting objects, recovering them and making them come back to live.
Among the many objects that I love to bring back to life I specialized in particular on flipper and jukebox. The jukebox is a car I love in particular, I like to customize them and make them play again, making them the soul. In the restoration of jukeboxes, I made myself a name among fans and collectors, because now they are few in Italy to know how to put hands on this type of objects. The work begins from the recovery of what at first sight is little more than a scrap. The ability to adjust part with a phase of study and update and joins you to create new themed decorations, choose the 45 right turns and make the right labels.
WHAT DOES JUKEBOX MEAN – A real curiosity about jukebox is the name. Officially the production houses spoke of Automatic Coin-Operated Phonographs (automatic mechanism phonographs with coins), but this definition was immediately replaced in the common language by the term jukebox. If there are no problems on the term box (box/container) the first word "vocabolo" has an almost unknown derivation and it would be traced back to jook house, the barracks where the peasants of the South - thick of Afro origin - gathered to make a bastion.
HOW A JUKEBOX WORKS – The mechanism is simple: a mechanical arm extracts the selected disk based on a code system, which allows you to select and (a time) pay the song. This mechanism is inserted in a cabinet with only one or a pair of bass speakers in a harmonic case.
THE MAIN CASES OF JUKEBOX CONSTRUCTION – The main building houses are Made in USA: Wurlitzer, Trashcan, Packard, Filben, Seeburg, Ami and Rock-Ola whose specimens are now sought throughout the world with very high figures.
