Clean vinyl with record washing machines
The record washer machine is a step up, an indispensable tool for washing vinyl at a more effective level .
It guarantees effectiveness at various levels based on the type.
Certain machines ensure impeccable cleaning, almost all of them will make you take a further leap in quality in vinyl cleaning, if used correctly.
At the same time they are less economical and more delicate for the vinyl record.
And I'm sure I'll get insults and disapproval but I would never use a record cleaning machine on my vinyl records permanently , for a long time and with high frequency .
I see it as the tool for major cleaning, for important cleaning and to be used cyclically on all vinyl records. But the time cycles have to be quite large, in my way of seeing things.
- Use it once every so many times. days and then reuse it, on the same disc, after three, four weeks? Yes, I'm in
- Use it three, four times a week on the same vinyl? Madness
But this is a obsession of mine, not a rule to follow. Also because a record washing machine, especially if too cheap , tends to wear out and be progressively less and less effective.
Wash a vinyl on the first day and you will have a “wow” effect on your sight and hearing (and I assure you that you will immediately notice the difference in sound); wash a vinyl with the same machine after six months and you may not achieve the same quality.
As you can imagine, there are low-cost vinyl record cleaning machines and more expensive ones. Always reminding ourselves that, in the world of vinyl, sometimes, those who spend the most spend the least .
Having said this, the advantages of a record washing machine are that:
- It was created specifically to wash records (trivially, but up to a certain point, it means that a group of people dedicate themselves only to this purpose, and it is important to consider this)
- Minimizes pressure on the disc
- Minimizes contact with the puck
